You were home

I am writing this first blog on the night before shifting to my new 2BHK home.
I was living in this 1BHK in Munnekollal, Bengaluru, from January 2026. This was my first rented home, where I paid the deposit with my saved up internship money. It was a big deal to me.
This home taught me how to live independently, manage money, and handle household chores between office deadlines. This home has seen Amma and me bedridden. This little space was ‘home’ for our family when Amma’s and my health conditions were at their worst.
It has seen my lowest and highest moments.
It has seen me juggling thorugh office deadlines. It has seen my friends and me having lunch and making dosa together. It has seen my mom being ill, and it has also seen her fighting cancer.
The girl who had no idea how to cook now cooks rasam and phenna bhat perfectly.
The phase in this home taught me a lot of things. It taught me that independence isn’t always about having everything figured out. For me, it was about getting out of bed when I didn’t want to, cooking when I was exhausted, and showing up to work despite everything happening at home.
And now, I’m moving to a 2BHK. A bigger space, a new beginning, and maybe some gentler days.
The girl who moved in with her internship savings is leaving with so much more than she came with.
Thanking this little place. You were HOME.
